Overview

Build an empire on a shared hex map. Construction, research and travel run on timers. Battles against other players resolve on a fixed schedule, whether you are online or offline.

Expansio is a persistent browser strategy game inspired by Travian and OGame. Your empire keeps progressing between visits, and every world is a campaign with an outcome. There are no paid advantages. See what will feel familiar and how scheduled battles work.

Plan in peace, fight at the turn

Between turns the world runs in real time. Build, research, train and march whenever it suits you. Every siege and raid between players waits for the turn to fall, then the whole map resolves at once. Until it does, an army waiting on its target can still be sent on or brought home.

Prepare your armies and defenses before the scheduled resolution, then return to the results. You can still lose resources, units or colonies while offline if a turn resolves. Raids against neutral camps resolve on arrival instead.

Expand and conquer

Your realm is made of Colonies. Each one has a Core, where it is built, defended and besieged, and a ring of Holdings where its mines, quarries and farms stand.

Grow a Colony tile by tile, found new ones on open ground, and take a rival's by breaking its Core. Expansion and conquest are the heart of the game.

Three resources, one to watch

Gold and materials pay for everything you build, train and research. Food feeds your army.

Every unit eats from its home Colony each turn. A Colony that cannot feed its troops falls into food debt, and the debt chokes its gold and materials. Keep an eye on your Farms.

Research reaches everywhere

Research happens at one Colony's Academy, and every level applies to your whole realm, for good. Richer production, deeper stores, faster marches, tougher units and emplacements, more fronts open at once.

What you study early compounds into the late game.

The monument race

Scattered across every world are landmarks: guarded ancient sites that pay whoever holds them. Take enough of them, complete the Grand Design, and you may found a monument. Raise it one level every turn while your rivals try to siege it down. The first to finish it wins the world.

Or outlast everyone. The last player standing takes the world too. How a world is won

Pick a class

The Warlord fights for what it cannot grow. The Industrialist out-earns everyone and pays to fortify. The Expansionist digs in and spreads wide. Every class fields the same units and the same emplacements; what differs is how cheaply and quickly each puts them on the map. Compare the classes
